Always good to go home

I have just spent a full five days -- count 'em -- FIVE days at home! ahhhh! It's my first time all year to take some vacation days and that felt great -- to unplug. It took me a good two days to stop thinking about things at work! It's good for my soul to be home.

I could sit at my favorite place and enjoy extended time listening to the Lord and enjoying memories of times past. I sit at the kitchen table with all the windows open in the front and the back where I can see all the way back to the railroad tracks. I can enjoy the peaceful dove couples. The last I counted there were 12 couples (24 doves) "hanging out" in the yard. There were also 3 red bird couples.

I had the time to read chapters and chapters in the Bible and sit and think and hear the Lord talking directly to me. I can sit at that table and almost hear the laugher of years past of Mama and Daddy telling funny stories of things happening when they were kids.

I could enjoy small town life..... A visit from Mamie (who used to help take care of Mama) and her daughter and grand daugher (who was an absolute delight!) Go down the road and visit with Vern and Tina sitting on the porch. Eat at Miss Sippy's with Mrs. Cooper and visit with friends from long ago. Go "where everybody goes" -- 4 K -- and get a couple of catfish lunches and see almost everyone in Carrollton! Then go and spend the afternoon with my best childhood friend and laugh and always learn new things. The only thing we didn't get to was sing! sigh... next time...... See the "headless person" that SOMEONE (??) always puts out the beginning of October through Halloween. This "headless person" sits by the railroad in town but you never know when he will be moved and might even have a little dog beside him or a shrunken head instead of no head!! It's a hoot!

For this time.... even though the purpose was to pack up the house (I accomplished packing up the kitchen).... it was good for my soul! Truly.... "He makes me to lie down in green pastures.... He restores my soul"!! Blessed be the Name of the Lord!
